Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • associate degree preferred
  • hospitality experience
  • customer service experience
  • healthcare experience
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to use computer and phone systems
  • ability to transport patients using wheelchairs
  • certification in wheelchair transportation either motorized or non-motorized
  • ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • physical ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch or stoop for extended periods
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to assist patients safely
  • ability to push or pull objects over varied surfaces
  • normal or corrected hearing and vision
  • physical presence onsite required

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • associate degree preferred
  • hospitality experience preferred
  • customer service experience preferred
  • healthcare experience preferred
  • must be customer service-oriented
  • must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English

Job Duties

  • Deliver the highest level of customer service in all situations
  • create a great first impression and patient experience for all patients, visitors and DCH caregivers
  • maintain professional appearance and attitude to present a positive image
  • answer questions and provide directions to navigate the facility or other customer needs
  • provide updates and directions regarding patient's upcoming appointments and procedures
  • maintain understanding of healthcare environment and patient and guest complexity
  • utilize computer to access patients list, email and other programs to assist patients, visitors and DCH caregivers
  • conduct rounding to ensure visitor satisfaction as assigned
  • utilize assigned phone, cell phone if applicable to communicate with patients and customers
  • keep office and surrounding area neat, clean, functional and appealing
  • retrieve wheelchair inventory from the hospital and outpatient buildings and secure daily
  • clean and sanitize wheelchairs between each use
  • report and track any wheelchair repair needs
  • assist with transporting patients safely and courteously by wheelchair throughout the medical center
  • unlock the emergency elevator for patient escorts as assigned
  • assist with maintaining equipment in good working order and in proper place
  • adhere to DCH behavioral standards and all health system policies
  • perform essential job functions ensuring safety of patients, visitors and employees
  • identify and reduce unsafe practices
  • use electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet
  • perform all other duties as assigned
