Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or one year previous job experience required
- minimum six months experience as Patient & Family Concierge or equivalent
- demonstrated competency in Patient & Family Concierge responsibilities
- internal promotions based on business unit's performance assessment discretion
- completion of one annual contribution such as committee participation or departmental project
- must demonstrate desire, drive, and compassion for exceptional patient and family experience
- ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- possession of Act 34 clearance.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or one year of previous job experience in lieu of diploma
- six months of experience as a Patient & Family Concierge or equivalent
- demonstrated competency in all responsibilities of Patient & Family Concierge role
- successful internal promotion based on performance assessment
- completion of one annual contribution from options like committee participation, departmental project, peer interviewing, onboarding/precepting of other concierges
- desire, drive, and compassion to provide exceptional patient and family experience
- ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Job Duties
- Answers unit phones and transfers to appropriate staff
- responds to call lights under Nursing Assistant/PCT direction
- interacts and socializes with patients and assesses patient needs
- rounds hourly to ensure all areas of responsibility are met satisfactorily
- prints and distributes daily plans of care
- prompts patient mobility as appropriate, involving the appropriate clinical staff as needed
- maintains resources like pamphlets and department contacts
- completes DOH POC audits, hand hygiene audits, TJC environment tracers, and updates bulletin boards
- adheres to hand hygiene and infection control procedures
- follows mandatory reporting procedures for incidents affecting patient care
- exhibits UPMC values and practices key patient experience behaviors
- performs destination coordination including greeting patients and visitors, providing direction, issuing parking discounts and scooter use
- assists environmental services by cleaning and organizing assigned areas
- replenishes supplies, makes beds, inspects areas and reports maintenance issues
- assists dietary services by assembling and serving meals, maintaining food safety, and following sanitation practices
- performs transportation services by safely transporting patients and equipment, disinfecting equipment, and recording transportation data
- engages in supply and equipment management including ordering and organizing supplies, maintaining inventory and temperature logs
- provides administrative support by completing department administrative functions, coordinating patient tests and procedures, managing telephone calls, updating patient charts and bed boards, entering physician orders, handling equipment work orders, managing patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, performing unit audits, and monitoring noise levels
- performs other duties as assigned.
