Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent OR current high school/GED enrollment OR one year of previous job experience required in lieu of HS diploma/GED
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Completion of a Certified Health Unit Secretary course preferred
- May be asked to distribute medications to nurses at bedside with restricted access
- Act 34 with renewal required
- Additional certifications may be required for pediatric units
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Completion of a Certified Health Unit Secretary course preferred
- Previous ICU and/or pediatric experience preferred
- NICU experience strongly preferred
Job Duties
- Provide compassionate service and support to staff members, patients, families, and visitors
- Assist with all communications regarding the department
- Accurately update and maintain patient flow process
- Coordinate patient tests and procedures
- Assemble and serve meals according to diet orders and patient requirements
- Clean and organize all assigned areas including patient rooms and public areas
- Replenish supplies and order unit specific supplies and equipment
- Deliver supplies, equipment, medication, and materials to patient units
- Maintain unit communication including answering telephones, activating paging system, faxing, distributing mail, greeting visitors and staff
