Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent or current high school/GED enrollment or one year of previous job experience required in lieu of HS diploma/GED
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Completion of Certified Health Unit Secretary course preferred
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Additional certifications may be required for pediatric units
  • Night shift availability from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Ability to distribute medications to nurses at bedside under supervision
  • Access to medications limited to distribution only

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent OR current high school/GED enrollment OR one year of previous job experience in lieu of HS diploma/GED
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Completion of Certified Health Unit Secretary course preferred
  • Experience in ICU or pediatric settings preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain organization and prioritize tasks under pressure

Job Duties

  • Provide compassionate service and support to staff, patients, families, and visitors
  • Assist with communications regarding the department
  • Update and maintain patient flow processes accurately
  • Coordinate patient tests and procedures
  • Assemble and serve meals according to diet orders and patient requirements
  • Clean and organize assigned areas including patient rooms and procedure rooms
  • Replenish supplies and order unit-specific equipment
  • Deliver supplies, equipment, medication, and materials to patient units
  • Maintain par levels for supplies and forms
  • Answer telephones promptly and manage paging and faxing systems
  • Distribute patient and unit mail
  • Greet and assist visitors, physicians, and staff
