Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or active high school/GED program enrollment or one year of previous job experience instead of HS diploma/GED
  • Desire, drive, and compassion to provide exceptional patient and family experience
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Previous experience in healthcare or customer service is a plus
  • Act 34 clearance
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to work full-time schedule including three shifts a week from 7 am to 7 pm

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and families warmly and provide verbal directions and escort assistance
  • Disseminate appropriate patient information respecting confidentiality
  • Serve as a reference for visiting hours, package delivery, and hospital policies
  • Issue courtesy parking discounts and patient scooters
  • Assist with parking cashier functions and validate patient parking
  • Clean and organize assigned areas including patient rooms and public spaces
  • Replenish supplies and make beds in discharge and on-call rooms
  • Assemble and serve meals according to diet orders and safety regulations
  • Maintain food safety by following HACCP principles
  • Transport patients, equipment, and lab specimens safely and timely
  • Inspect and disinfect transportation equipment and record transportation data
  • Order, organize, and deliver unit-specific supplies and equipment
  • Monitor supply inventory, expiration dates, and maintain temperature logs
  • Answer unit phones, respond to call lights, and interact with patients
  • Perform hourly rounds to ensure responsibilities are met satisfactorily
  • Print and distribute daily plans of care and prompt patient mobility
  • Follow infection control procedures and mandatory reporting protocols
  • Exhibit UPMC values and key behaviors during all job responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
