Job Requirements

  • Must have the desire, drive, and compassion to provide exceptional patient and family experiences
  • High school diploma or one year of relevant job experience in lieu of diploma
  • Six months of work experience in a related concierge or patient service role
  • Demonstrated competency in concierge-related duties
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Compliance with required licensure and clearances including Act 34
  • Willingness to work full-time with rotating weekend shifts
  • Commitment to adhering to UPMC values and customer service behaviors
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to transportation and environmental services
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Willingness to participate in mandatory training and reporting procedures.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of experience as a Patient and Family Concierge or equivalent
  • Demonstrated competency in Patient and Family Concierge responsibilities
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Completion of one annual contribution such as committee participation or peer interviewing
  • Internal promotion based on business unit performance assessment
  • Act 34 clearance.

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and families warmly and provide verbal directions and escort assistance to visitors and patients
  • Disseminate patient information appropriately while respecting confidentiality
  • Serve as a reference source for visiting hours, directions, package delivery, and hospital policies
  • Issue courtesy parking discounts and free passes when appropriate
  • Manage patient scooter distribution as needed
  • Assist with parking cashier functions and validate patient parking
  • Track patient belongings upon admission
  • Organize assigned areas and patient equipment following procedures
  • Replenish supplies as needed
  • Inspect and ensure cleanliness and good repair of assigned areas, reporting maintenance issues
  • Maintain food safety and quality by applying HACCP principles
  • Operate food service equipment according to department procedures
  • Perform sanitation following departmental and health department guidelines
  • Deliver nourishment to patients upon request
  • Follow all safety and sanitation regulations
  • Transport patient-specific equipment and lab specimens safely and timely between units
  • Perform inspections and disinfect transportation equipment
  • Record transportation data electronically and manually
  • Report abnormal transportation activities to supervisor
  • Enter equipment repair requests into the online portal
  • Manage unit-specific supply orders ensuring adequate quantities
  • Organize supply room and stock patient room supplies including med cards and PPE
  • Maintain refrigerator and temperature logs and check supply expiration dates
  • Monitor supply inventory and collaborate with supply chain management
  • Answer unit phones and transfer calls
  • Respond to call lights under Nursing Assistant or PCT direction
  • Interact and assess patient needs
  • Conduct hourly rounds to ensure responsibilities are met
  • Print and distribute daily care plans
  • Promote patient mobility as appropriate
  • Maintain resources like pamphlets and department contacts
  • Follow hand hygiene and infection control procedures
  • Report incidents per mandatory reporting procedures

  • Ensure medication access is limited to nurse distribution
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
