Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • one year of experience in customer service or patient access related functions
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • ability to handle cash and multitask effectively
  • excellent computer skills
  • ability to train and cover other departments outside of patient access
  • part-time availability with Monday-Friday, first shift schedule

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • one year of experience in customer service or patient access functions including registration, scheduling, and insurance verification
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • strong computer skills and ability to operate office equipment
  • ability to train and provide cross coverage in multiple departments
  • excellent multitasking and communication skills

Job Duties

  • registers patients in an accurate, efficient, and professional manner
  • conducts patient/guarantor interviews and explains hospital policies and financial responsibilities
  • follows check-in procedures and ensures all forms are completed and scanned
  • verifies insurance eligibility and provides advanced insurance verification as needed
  • maintains confidentiality of patient and employee information according to HIPAA guidelines
  • provides training and orientation to new and current staff on patient access functions
  • delivers financial counseling to uninsured or underinsured patients
  • supports scheduling including telehealth and total joint classes
  • assists other departments and locations with registration functions
  • acts as a mentor and role model promoting patient access initiatives
  • participates in performance improvement activities and departmental initiatives
