Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, opened in June 2017, is a state-of-the-art full-service acute-care hospital located at the intersection of Interstate 45 and Texas State Highway 242. The hospital spans 725,000 square feet and offers a comprehensive range of medical services comparable to those at the flagship Houston Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years cash handling and customer service experience
  • Proficient typing and 10-key by touch skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to handle cash counting quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of cash handling and customer service experience
  • Experience as a bank teller or hospital cashier preferred
  • Demonstrates necessary skills and competencies to perform assigned job safely
  • Sufficient proficiency in English for reading, writing, and speaking
  • Excellent customer service and professional communication skills
  • Proficient typing and 10-key by touch skills
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to navigate multiple software programs
  • Critical thinking and independent decision-making skills
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations with patience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred

Job Duties

  • Promotes a positive work environment and contributes to a dynamic team focused work unit
  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism and effectively engages with a diverse customer base including patients, visitors, physician office staff, and internal departments
  • Trains employees in cashiering functions
  • Accepts and receipts payments from patients or others
  • Accepts and receipts deposits from various departments and may serve as custodian for patient valuables
  • Assists in resolving problems related to billing and cashiering functions
  • Assists in answering and directing incoming calls and provides general information and directions to employees, patients, and their family members
  • Enters and updates patient and operational data into various database systems with thoroughness, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Logs deposits and ensures documents are accurate
  • Utilizes security measures and protocols to ensure integrity of safes
  • Ensures proper routing and storage of records and other department documents
  • Ensures cash drawer and safe are in balance at all times and prepares bank deposits daily
  • Organizes time effectively to minimize incidental overtime and sets priorities efficiently
  • Displays initiative to improve job functions and offers suggestions to streamline processes for efficient workflow
  • Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies with a focus on continual development
