Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in pastry or culinary roles
  • Valid Certified Food Handlers card registered with Maricopa County
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a hot kitchen environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
  • Commitment to maintain high hygiene and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience in kitchen management, preferably in a banquet operation
  • Culinary passion and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods near hot equipment
  • Ability to work on slippery surfaces under intense pressure
  • Responsible, organized, self-motivated and flexible
  • Strong communication skills and leadership qualities
  • Ability to interact with guests and manage, train and motivate staff
  • Positive response to constructive feedback
  • Knowledge of occupational safety and health practices
  • Certified Food Handlers card registered with Maricopa County
  • Professional appearance including white double breasted chef's jacket and polished black shoes

Job Duties

  • Organize and clean pastry preparation stations to maintain established par stocks and prep levels while exceeding health code standards
  • Ensure all food preparation supplies are properly ordered, received, handled and stored
  • Assist wherever needed in the resort's food and beverage outlets to ensure timely and smooth quality service
  • Develop positive working relations with all other departments
  • Maintain consistency of product with great attention to food quality, taste and presentation
  • Aid in the concept, creativity, revision and implementation of all menus
  • Set the example as it relates to speed, cleanliness and accuracy
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating fostering good relations with guests, vendors, co-workers and management
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Head Pastry Chef
  • Ensure pastry stations are properly staffed
  • Assist the Pastry Chef in administrative functions such as scheduling and control of food and labor costs
  • Maintain high employee morale and motivate cooks
  • Ensure all employees maintain high standards of dress and personal hygiene
  • Organize efficient flow of production and maintain adequate staffing
  • Ensure proper maintenance and care of property equipment by employees
  • Plan, schedule and delegate to produce high-quality food while minimizing waste
  • Work well with support departments to ensure timely, standard-compliant product preparation
  • Participate in menu development and coordinate cross-utilization of food preparation and labor resources
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and attend management meetings
  • Train and motivate pastry staff and exercise methods of reward and discipline
  • Supervise and schedule all pastry culinary staff in accordance with budget and business levels
  • Assist when banquet business warrants it
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef
