Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years experience in culinary or related professional area
- Two plus years of experience in a related position
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Leadership skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Ability to supervise kitchen staff
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, 4 years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area
- Or 2-year degree from accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hospitality/Restaurant/Hotel Management, or related major, 2 years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related area
- Two plus years of employment in a related position
- Convention center experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Job Duties
- Assist the Pastry Chef in managing day-to-day pastry kitchen operations including workflow, scheduling, staffing, and training
- Collaborate with the Executive Pastry Chef in developing new pastry recipes, menu items, and seasonal specialties
- Maintain high standards of quality and consistency in pastry production, including taste, texture, appearance, and portion size
- Supervise pastry cooks, kitchen assistants, and temporary employees, providing guidance and training
- Assist in managing inventory and procurement of pastry ingredients, equipment, and supplies
- Oversee the production and presentation of pastry and dessert items, ensuring consistency and excellence
- Ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards in the pastry kitchen
- Interact professionally with guests, responding to inquiries and accommodating special requests
