Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4 years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related area
  • OR 2-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major
  • 2 years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related area
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Ability to work full-time onsite at Gaylord Texan Resort
  • Compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to manage multiple kitchen areas simultaneously
  • Skilled in food preparation and kitchen equipment operation

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in culinary or related field
  • OR 2-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related field with 2 years experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food safety standards
  • Experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations
  • Ability to develop new recipes and food presentations
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and labor schedules
  • Capability to train and mentor employees
  • Customer service orientation and problem-solving ability

Job Duties

  • Manage kitchen shift operations and ensure compliance with food and beverage policies and procedures
  • Estimate daily production needs and communicate them to kitchen personnel
  • Assist the Executive Chef with kitchen operations and food preparation
  • Prepare and cook a variety of foods for regular and special functions
  • Develop and create new culinary applications, ideas, and presentations
  • Maintain purchasing, receiving, and food storage standards
  • Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation regulations
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of kitchen staff
  • Lead kitchen shifts while preparing food items and fulfilling requests
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to lead and motivate kitchen team
  • Foster mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Model appropriate workplace behaviors
  • Maintain employee productivity levels
  • Communicate performance expectations clearly
