Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in baking and pastry arts or related field
  • 3 to 5 years experience in pastry production or similar kitchen environment
  • Proficiency in English communication
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel and other software
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Physical ability to perform kitchen duties including standing for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree in baking and pastry arts or certification from an accredited culinary institute preferred
  • 3 to 5 plus years experience in high-volume, fine dining, banquet, or pastry production kitchen desired
  • Computer experience with Excel and Microsoft software programs helpful
  • Ability to communicate, read, write, and speak English effectively
  • Bi-lingual skills desired but not required
  • Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume helpful
  • Punctual, reliable, and positive work ethic
  • Organized, self-motivated, proactive with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, and stressful environment while maintaining high quality

Job Duties

  • Assist executive pastry chef in direction and management of all pastry operations and staff
  • Assure proper preparation of all baked items for pastry production and operations
  • Perform duties of the executive pastry chef in their absence
  • Support daily bakery operations
  • Inspect all bakery items upon completion to ensure proper preparation and attractive presentation
  • Help with menu development and costing of new or special menu items
  • Keep executive pastry chef informed of pertinent information and irregularities
  • Oversee bakery activities and monitor food production and presentation
  • Assist with ordering bakery ingredients and ensure correct receipt
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and in excellent working condition
  • Strive to improve operating procedures and maintain high standards
  • Instruct and train bakery associates on proper procedures and techniques
  • Assist in establishment and adherence to department budgets
  • Complete end of month pastry kitchen inventory
  • Schedule labor to meet business needs and labor cost objectives
  • Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
  • Maintain a safe and hazard-free environment and report accidents
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs
