Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous pastry cook experience in a professional kitchen
  • strong knowledge of baking and pastry preparation techniques
  • ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • good physical stamina to stand for long periods
  • flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • effective communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • previous experience as a pastry cook or similar role in a high-volume restaurant or hotel environment
  • solid understanding of pastry techniques including mixing, baking, piping, and decorating
  • passion for Japanese cuisine and culinary experiences
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • strong teamwork and communication skills
  • customer-oriented approach
  • attention to detail and presentation

Job Duties

  • assist in the preparation and production of a diverse range of pastries, desserts, and baked goods following recipes and guidelines established by the Head Pastry Chef
  • execute precise measurements and techniques to ensure consistency and quality in all pastry creations
  • prepare and assemble components for plated desserts including sauces, creams, garnishes, and accompaniments
  • bake, decorate, and finish pastries and desserts with attention to detail and presentation standards
  • collaborate with the kitchen team to uphold Zuma’s standards of excellence
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of pastry workstations
  • manage inventory of pastry ingredients and supplies
