Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in an upscale hotel or similar establishment
  • Required certification to handle food safely
  • Proficiency in English for effective communication
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
  • Strictly abide by State sanitation/health regulations and hotel requirements
  • Meet with Pastry Chef/Sous Chef to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes, and other information pertinent to job performance
  • Establish priority items for the day and inform the Pastry Chef of any supplies that need requisitioning
  • Prepare and produce dessert menu items for restaurants, room service, and banquets following recipes and yield guides
  • Produce centerpieces for banquets and buffets
  • Display items attractively and to specified requirements
  • Inform the Sous Chef of any shortages before the item runs out
  • Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by health department and hotel requirements
  • Review work status and follow-up actions with Pastry Chef before leaving
  • Always maintain positive guest relations
