Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in pastry or bake shop in an upscale hotel or similar environment
- Food handling certification required
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to comprehend detailed recipes and follow instructions accurately
- Strong attention to hygiene, sanitation, and organizational standards
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 25 lbs
- Willingness to work in a fluctuating environment with varying temperatures and noise levels
Job Qualifications
- Previous upscale hotel experience
- A minimum formal education of a high school diploma
- Required certification to handle food
- Proficiency in English both verbal and non-verbal
- Ability to comprehend and follow recipes
- Excellent customer service focus and communication skills
Job Duties
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
- Strictly abide by State sanitation and health regulations and hotel requirements
- Meet with Pastry Chef and Sous Chef to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes, and other information pertinent to job performance
- Establish priority items for the day and inform the Pastry Chef of any supplies needed
- Prepare and produce dessert menu items for restaurants, room service, and banquets following recipes and yield guides
- Produce centerpieces for banquets and buffets
- Display items attractively and to specified requirements
- Inform the Sous Chef of any shortages before items run out
- Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by health department and hotel requirements
- Review status of work and follow-up actions required with Pastry Chef before leaving
- Always maintain positive guest relations
