Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3-4 years experience in cooking, baking and pastry
- Ability to obtain Food Handler's Card
- Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Ability to bend, stoop, stand, lift 50 pounds and push carts up to 200 pounds
- Ability to speak, read and write English
Job Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of classical French desserts, chocolate handling and sugar work preferred
- Basic knowledge of mixing techniques, recipe preparation, piping, cake building, decorating
- Basic knowledge of mousses, custards and sauces
- Comprehends banquet event orders (BEOs)
- Knowledge of restaurant desserts and special desserts
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks and difficult situations
- Knowledge of operating all kitchen/pastry equipment including mixers, tilt skillets, ice cream machine
- Basic mathematical skills
- Must be able to obtain Food Handler's Card
- Ability to bend, stoop, stand, lift 50 pounds and push carts up to 200 pounds
- Ability to speak, read and write English
- Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Pastry diploma or degree preferred
- Minimum 3-4 years experience with fundamentals of cooking, baking and pastry
Job Duties
- Reports directly to the Pastry Chef and Sous Chef
- Report cook I if any of the above is absent
- Prepares all volume food items according to standard recipes and specifications to ensure consistency of product
- Adheres to control procedures for cost and quality
- Checks and controls proper storage and rotation of product
- Practices inventory controls including preparation and pick up of items from storeroom
- Stores all food in refrigerated boxes with covers, labels, and dates
- Cleans walk-ins, reach-in boxes, and ensures equipment is clean and sanitary
- Maintains area in clean condition
- Works varying schedules reflecting hotel business needs
- Performs all other assigned duties
