Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous pastry cook or baking experience in a hospitality setting
- Knowledge of pastry and baking techniques
- Ability to follow established recipes precisely
- Basic math skills for ingredient measurements and conversions
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items and stand for long periods
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Job Qualifications
- Associates degree in Baking and Pastry preferred
- Previous experience in a 4 Diamond or 4 Star hotel or restaurant
- Solid knife handling skills
- Strong knowledge of pastry and baked goods
- Ability to calculate figures such as recipe yields, serving size, weight and temperature conversions
- Hard-working and positive attitude
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for creating pastries and desserts
- Commitment to maintaining a sanitary and organized workspace
- Experience working with a team of food and beverage professionals
Job Duties
- Prepare breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries according to established recipes
- Plate all food items professionally ensuring attention to detail
- Assist in determining the appropriate quantity of baked goods for each food and beverage outlet
- Taste test pastry items throughout production to ensure consistent quality
- Complete production records accurately and in a timely manner
- Assist in developing new products for à la carte and catering menus on a rotating basis
- Clean equipment and workstations thoroughly during and at the end of each shift to maintain proper sanitation and orderliness
