  • An associate's degree in pastry arts or a certificate from a culinary institution is highly desired
  • Strong baking techniques and the ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • Creativity in designing unique desserts and new flavor combinations
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work well with other staff
  • Ability to work well under pressure and accept criticism

Job Duties

  • Bake a wide variety of goods, such as cakes, cookies, pies, pastries, and breads, following both traditional and new recipes
  • Decorate desserts with frostings, glazes, and toppings to create visually appealing presentations
  • Contribute ideas for new dishes and create custom desserts
  • Check and order ingredients and supplies for the pastry section
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic work area and manage kitchen staff
  • Keep accurate records of food costs and inventory
