Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent experience
  • Culinary certificate or degree preferred
  • Associate's degree in pastry arts or certificate from a culinary institution highly desired
  • Strong baking techniques
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • Creativity in designing desserts
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to accept criticism
  • Ability to lift, push, carry 20 to 40 lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, bend, and move items in support of hotel operations

Job Qualifications

  • Creativity in designing unique desserts and flavor combinations
  • Attention to detail in ingredient measurement and decoration

  • Ability to communicate clearly and work well with staff
  • Ability to work under pressure and accept constructive criticism

Job Duties

  • Create and prepare a wide variety of baked goods including cakes, cookies, pies, pastries, and breads
  • Decorate desserts with frostings, glazes, and toppings to enhance visual appeal
  • Develop new menu items and custom desserts
  • Manage inventory and order ingredients and supplies
  • Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen environment and manage kitchen staff
  • Keep accurate records of food costs and inventory
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
