Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • minimum one year food service or related work experience
  • ability to work as a team member
  • effective communication skills with kitchen staff
  • physical ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 70 lbs
  • capacity to perform periodic climbing and bending
  • full mobility with ability to travel 30-50 feet regularly
  • ability to stand continuously during preparation and service
  • ability to hear equipment timers
  • ability to read, comprehend and follow use records and special requests
  • ability to see product preparation clearly

Job Duties

  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards
  • start food items prepared ahead of time without exceeding estimated needs
  • date all food containers and rotate per standard operating procedures ensuring perishables are stored at proper temperatures
  • check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line setup
  • note any out-of-stock items or potential shortages
  • return unused food items to designated storage areas with proper coverage and dating
  • assist in creating plans to address food cost problems, control waste, loss and usage according to SOP
