Job Requirements

  • Minimum of one year pastry chef experience in a full service restaurant or equivalent
  • Ability to meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • Provide a clean and well-manicured persona reflecting the restaurant's image
  • Safely transport containers weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Stand and or walk for an entire shift
  • Safely transport items on slick and uneven surfaces and stairs
  • Work a variable and flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Perform in limited physical space with variable ventilation, smoke and extreme temperatures

Job Duties

  • Perform a daily walk through inventory to prioritize product utilization
  • Identify and communicate inventory and equipment needs to ordering manager
  • Meet daily with executive chef to coordinate and ensure production standards
  • Assist in development and maintenance of pastry recipe books with ingredient and portion specifications
  • Assist in developing dessert menus and items
  • Produce pastries for the restaurant and special functions
  • Prepare ingredients and pastry items according to prescribed recipes
  • Maintain food quality standards including consistency and presentation
  • Coordinate proper food storage according to standard procedures
  • Work dessert station on line when necessary
  • Use equipment and utensils safely and efficiently
  • Operate position functions independently if necessary
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure safety
  • Communicate problems to management immediately
  • Review catering function agenda daily
  • Confirm guest reservations with management to determine preparation quantities
  • Maintain a well-manicured appearance reflecting the restaurant's image
  • Be an active team player
  • Follow supervisor's instructions
  • Work under stressful conditions and make appropriate judgment calls
  • Assist servers in pastry presentation
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout shift and prepare area for the next
  • Follow proper hand washing procedures
  • Communicate with purchasing and product development when ordering new items
  • Review and update pastry item descriptions for service staff
