Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year pastry chef experience in a full service restaurant or equivalent
- Ability to meet personal schedule requirements punctually
- Maintain a clean, well-manicured persona that reflects the restaurant image
- Safely transport containers weighing up to 30 pounds
- Stand and/or walk for entire shifts
- Safely transport items on slick and uneven surfaces including stairs
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Perform tasks in limited physical space with variable ventilation, smoke, and temperatures
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-year pastry chef experience in a full service restaurant or equivalent
- Ability to work under stressful conditions
- Strong attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
- Good communication skills for coordination with team members
- Ability to follow supervisors instructions
- Commitment to maintaining a professional appearance
- Understanding of sanitation standards including hand washing
- Ability to assist in recipe and menu development
Job Duties
- Perform a daily walk through inventory to prioritize product utilization
- Identify and communicate inventory and equipment needs to ordering manager
- Meet daily with executive chef to coordinate and ensure production standards
- Assist in development and maintenance of pastry recipe books prescribing ingredients, product specifications, and portion sizes
- Assist in development of dessert menus and items
- Produce pastries for the restaurant and special functions
- Prepare ingredients needed for pastry recipes
- Prepare pastry items according to prescribed recipes
- Maintain food quality standards including consistency and presentation
- Coordinate proper food storage according to procedures
- Work dessert station on line when necessary
- Use equipment as prescribed in preparation of menu items
- Safely and efficiently use knives and utensils necessary for menu preparation
- Operate functions of position alone if necessary
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure safety
- Communicate problems to management immediately
