Job Requirements

- safely transport containers weighing up to 30 pounds
- stand and/or walk for an entire shift
- safely transport items on slick and uneven surfaces and stairs
- move safely in all restaurant areas
- work variable and flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- perform work in limited physical space with variable ventilation, smoke and extreme temperatures
Job Qualifications
- minimum of 1-year pastry chef experience in a full service restaurant or equivalent
- ability to maintain a professional appearance
- strong communication skills
- ability to work effectively in a team
- ability to follow supervisor's instructions
- capability to handle work under stressful conditions
- knowledge of pastry production and food safety standards
- experience with inventory management
- capacity to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- perform a daily walk through inventory to prioritize product utilization
- identify and communicate inventory and equipment needs to ordering manager
- meet daily with executive chef to coordinate and ensure production standards
- assist in the development and maintenance of pastry recipe books
- assist in the development of dessert menus and items
- produce pastries for the restaurant and special functions
- prepare ingredients for pastry recipes
- prepare pastry items according to prescribed recipes
- maintain food quality standards including consistency and presentation
- coordinate proper food storage according to operating procedures
- work dessert station on line when necessary
- use equipment as prescribed for menu preparation
- safely use knives and utensils for menu preparation
- operate position functions independently if necessary
- maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure safety
- communicate problems to management immediately
- review catering function agenda daily
- confirm guest reservations to determine preparation quantities
- maintain a well-manicured appearance that reflects restaurant image
- be an active team player
- follow supervisor's instructions
- work under stressful conditions
- make judgment calls under stress
- assist servers in presenting pastry items
- maintain clean and orderly work area throughout shift
- follow proper hand washing procedures
- communicate with purchasing and product development for special orders
- review and update pastry item descriptions for service staff
