Job Requirements

  • At least 2-year experience as a prep cook, pastry cook, or similar role
  • Thorough understanding of basic pastry techniques such as mixing methods, making pastry cream, cooking the curd
  • Ability to communicate with the public, hotel staff, and management in a professional manner
  • Computer and phone literacy required
  • Keep supplies filled and maintained
  • Clean up spills and maintain proper sanitation
  • Must have the ability to bend, squat, and frequently lift 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed
  • A high school diploma is a plus
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Create and prepare all pastry items as required by the business
  • Prepare, clean, and organize ingredients for use in the kitchen
  • Come up with recipe ideas from scratch
  • Prepare glazes, fillings, toppings, and other products per company standards and recipes given by the Executive Pastry Chef
  • Plan the menu of desserts and pastry to complement savory items
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized at all times
  • Calculate and scale recipes to determine the quantities of prep items needed on given production totals
  • Oversee a team of junior pastry cooks and other staff members as necessary
  • Maintain up to date knowledge about pastry arts and ingredients
  • Carry out administrative duties to maintain an efficient workspace
  • Handling and reheating food
  • Will be required to work varying schedules that reflect the business needs of the hotel
  • All other duties that are assigned
