Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role
- Food safety certification preferred or must be attained within 30 days
- Ability to work safely in a high-temperature kitchen
- Ability to handle knives and culinary tools proficiently
- Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively
- Flexibility to work varied schedules including over 40 hours per week
- Comfortable working in noisy, shared spaces
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods
Job Qualifications
- Culinary, pastry and baking degree or related training preferred
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
- Experience in luxury brand or market preferred
- Food safety certification preferred or to be attained within 30 days
- Basic knowledge of baking and pastry production
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and cleaning
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and POS systems
Job Duties
- Follow recipes to prepare and present desserts, pastries and breads
- Check restaurant par list to ensure adequate prep for shift
- Measure and mix ingredients for dough or batter
- Prepare and cook ingredients for pie fillings, puddings, custards and other desserts
- Adjust drafts or thermostatic controls to regulate oven temperatures
- Mix ingredients to make icings
- Decorate cakes and pastries
- Complete equipment check lists and report issues
- Rotate food in coolers and freezers to minimize spoilage
- Maintain cleanliness of food prep areas
- Communicate ordering needs to kitchen leadership
- Read, understand and produce items in a timely manner
- Maintain knowledge of menu items
- Adhere to sanitation standards
- Maintain professional appearance
- Comply with company safety and security policies
- Attend training and meetings
- Perform cross-training as directed
- Greet guests warmly using professional nomenclature
- Perform other assigned duties
