Job Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years experience as a pastry cook
- Good working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs continuously
- Capability to stand and work in confined spaces for extended periods
- Ability to work in extreme temperature conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years experience as a pastry cook
- Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry goods weighing up to 30 lbs on a continuous schedule
- Ability to work continuously in confined spaces and extreme temperature ranges
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or recipe form
- Practical problem-solving skills in a kitchen environment
Job Duties
- Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served
- Understands and complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies
- Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations
- Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
- Maintains a clean sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, and refrigeration equipment
- Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
- Handles, stores, and rotates all products properly
- Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods
- Understands food safety and helps control bacteria growth
- Closes kitchen properly and follows closing checklist
- Attends scheduled employee meetings and suggests improvements
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Pastry and Executive Chef
