Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of experience in pastry or baking
  • ability to lift and carry goods weighing up to 30 lbs
  • ability to stand and work in confined spaces
  • ability to work in extreme temperature ranges
  • good understanding of food safety and sanitation
  • effective communication skills in English

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in pastry preparation
  • broad knowledge of sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Prepare pastry items and baked goods as directed by Pastry and Executive Chef
  • Decorate cakes and pastries
  • Organize high-volume pastry production procedures and meet all deadlines
  • Perform food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items
  • Maintain quality and consistency of products served
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations
  • Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard sizes and recipes
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area
  • Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up
  • Handle, store and rotate all products properly
  • Assist in food preparation during off-peak periods
  • Understand and apply food safety standards
  • Manage shelf life and thaw time of products
  • Close kitchen properly and follow closing checklists
  • Attend employee meetings and suggest improvements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Pastry and Executive Chef
