Job Requirements

  • Relevant culinary education or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced pastry kitchen
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior pastry staff
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to perform kitchen duties including standing for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Pastry Chef de Partie or similar role in a high-volume restaurant or hotel environment
  • Solid understanding of pastry techniques, including mixing, baking, piping, and decorating
  • Knowledge of pastry ingredients, flavors, and flavor combinations
  • A genuine love for culinary experiences and a passion for Japanese cuisine
  • Naturally friendly and customer-oriented with skills in creating memorable dining experiences
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods in accordance with Zuma's standards
  • Execute pastry recipes with precision and consistency, ensuring adherence to presentation guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and organized pastry section, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment
  • Collaborate with the pastry team to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate any shortages or discrepancies to the Pastry Sous Chef
  • Train and mentor junior pastry team members, providing guidance on techniques and procedures
  • Assist in the creation of production schedules and participate in daily pre-service briefings
