Job Qualifications
- previous experience as a pastry chef de partie or similar role in a high-volume restaurant or hotel environment
- solid understanding of pastry techniques including mixing, baking, piping, and decorating
- knowledge of pastry ingredients, flavors, and flavor combinations
- a genuine love for culinary experiences and a passion for Japanese cuisine
- a natural team player who is at home working in sync with a large team
- naturally friendly, customer-oriented, and skilled at creating memorable dining experiences
Job Duties
- prepare a variety of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods in accordance with Zuma's standards
- execute pastry recipes with precision and consistency, ensuring adherence to presentation guidelines
- maintain a clean and organized pastry section, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment
- collaborate with the pastry team to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings
- monitor inventory levels and communicate any shortages or discrepancies to the Pastry Sous Chef
- train and mentor junior pastry team members, providing guidance on techniques and procedures
- assist in the creation of production schedules and participate in daily pre-service briefings
