Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • associate's degree in baking and pastry arts or related field preferred
  • minimum of three years professional baking experience
  • must be 18 years or older
  • one year of supervisory experience
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • basic math skills
  • strong customer service skills
  • ability to work in a team environment
  • proficiency in heating, cooling, reheating and sanitation procedures
  • knowledge of specific bakery skills including yeast doughs, quick breads, pastry doughs and cake decorations

  • specific bakery skills and knowledge of yeast doughs, quick breads, pastry doughs, cookie, pie and cake batters and fillings, custards, creams and mousses, icing, glazes and sauces, frozen desserts, plated desserts, wedding and specialty cake decorations, conversions, calculations and recipe costing

Job Duties

  • Supervise and contribute to daily bakery production, set up, and tear down
  • ensure consistently high-quality production of all bakery items
  • train new employees in all aspects of the pastry kitchen
  • ensure strict adherence to sanitation and cleanliness guidelines
  • work closely with all chefs to improve employee morale and conduct employee discipline fairly and consistently
  • assist chefs in maintaining food and labor cost
  • work with chefs to create and implement new menus and specials
  • ensure proper quantities of stock are ordered to allow for production while limiting waste
  • other projects and duties as assigned
