Job Requirements

  • Degree or certification in culinary arts pastry arts or related field preferred
  • Additional certifications in food safety and sanitation may be required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items up to 50 lbs
  • Dexterity for handling delicate ingredients and tools in pastry kitchen

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a pastry chef or similar supervisory pastry role preferably in a hotel or high-end culinary setting
  • In-depth knowledge of baking techniques pastry decoration and dessert preparation
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to train and motivate team
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards and sanitation practices
  • Creativity and passion for pastry arts
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact with kitchen staff and hotel departments
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Supervise pastry team including bakers and pastry chefs ensuring efficient workflow and training
  • Assist in designing and creating innovative and seasonal pastry menus aligned with hotel dining and special events
  • Ensure all pastries meet high standards of quality taste and presentation
  • Monitor inventory levels and order ingredients as needed ensuring proper storage
  • Provide on-the-job training for pastry staff fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Enforce strict adherence to food safety hygiene and health regulations
  • Help monitor and control food costs wastage and overall departmental budget
  • Collaborate with executive chef sous chefs and kitchen staff to coordinate menu offerings and banquet services
  • Ensure responsiveness to guest requests dietary restrictions and resolve pastry-related complaints promptly
  • Oversee pastry production for special events banquets and functions ensuring timely preparation and delivery
  • Stay updated with latest pastry trends techniques and equipment incorporating innovations into restaurant offerings
