Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to drive for company business according to BGC Business Driver Policy
  • One or more years of cooking related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Food handler certification required

  • Basic mathematical skills for following recipes
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Attention to safety hazards and appropriate reporting

Job Duties

  • Follow recipes to prepare cakes, donuts, cookies, and other pastry products according to customer orders or as needed for display
  • Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, shaping, and scoring them
  • Use creativity and culinary knowledge to prepare and decorate pastry products
  • Operate commercial baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, dough proofers
  • Complete production list and fill out special order requests, as well as package and label products
  • Ensure sufficient amount of products and ingredients are in stock and coordinate with inventory personnel to order as needed
  • Enforce quality control and food safety standards, stock and rotate dated products properly
  • Maintain attractive product presentation by filling bakery trays, display cases, and ingredient bins and rotating products to ensure freshness
  • Provide friendly customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, responding to complaints, and assisting in product selection
  • Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to company safety procedures
