Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three years of professional pastry chef experience in upscale or high volume catering or restaurant settings
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform under pressure
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling principles
- Ability to adapt to changing pastry trends and decoration techniques
- Proficiency with standard kitchen and office computer applications
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree preferred
- Minimum three years related experience in upscale, high volume restaurant and/or catering operations
- Ability to demonstrate creative and quality driven pastry skills
- Good food knowledge and recognition of quality product
- Strong knowledge of current food and catering trends focusing on seasonal ingredients, production, sanitation, food cost controls, menu development and presentation
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles
- ServSafe or Department of Health certification is a plus
Job Duties
- Daily production of all pastries and baked goods for catered events
- Complete delegated tasks and prep list items in a timely manner
- Taste and visually inspect all prepared food made in the kitchen
- Execute recipes efficiently and consistently
- Assist in portion necessities and portion control for all food functions and recipes
- Work in a fast-paced environment and perform duties under pressure
- Lead by example, support and demonstrate strong leadership in the kitchen
- Possess knowledge of new trends, techniques, artistry, and elegance
- Adjust to innovative styles and concepts of pastry decorations
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment keeping pastry kitchen sanitary at all times
