Job Requirements

  • Minimum age 18
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • completion of company orientation
  • completion of food safety and sanitation training upon hire
  • ability to use computer systems and equipment such as PC, symbol, scales, label machine
  • strong customer service skills

  • reading and writing proficiency

  • ability to perform detailed tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to lift up to 55 lbs or more depending on department

Job Duties

  • Provides superior customer service
  • takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • answers customer questions regarding products
  • assists with selections
  • prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
  • slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
  • assists in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up
  • uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • cleans and sanitizes display cases
  • operates and maintains equipment properly
  • complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • complies with department and store operating procedures
  • records production and shrink
  • takes care of service counter customers
  • uses ordering system applications
  • performs inventory management processes
  • ensures catering orders are prepared and ready for pickup
  • performs sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
  • serves and packages products at customer request
  • educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions
  • prepackages condiments
  • cuts, slices, dices, chops food in preparation for chef
