Job Duties

  • Conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner with clients even in stressful situations
  • Deal intelligibly, pleasantly and efficiently with clients, often multitasking
  • Present treatment plans and fees positively while supporting hospital payment policies
  • Remember clients and patients names and use them
  • Disseminate up-to-date information to appropriate team members
  • Communicate compassionately and effectively with clients via verbal, email, and text
  • Understand veterinary terminology, surgical procedures, and medications
  • Interpret veterinary medical records to ensure proper charges are included
  • Assist in medical treatment cases as needed
  • Admit and discharge patients on doctor’s orders ensuring medical appropriateness
  • Answer client questions regarding animal care up to veterinary level
  • Relay advice from practitioners and reinforce proper home care
  • Handle patient admission and accurate medical record entries
  • Determine and communicate financial updates including additional deposits
  • Dispense prescribed medications and explain dosing and side effects
  • Communicate discharge instructions clearly and verify client understanding
  • Accurately handle payment transactions
  • Show empathy, care, and concern consistently
  • Schedule appointments according to standard procedures considering patient needs
  • Review inpatient records each shift for correctness and updates
  • Prepare and ship lab samples with appropriate documentation and charges
  • Record results of tests, treatments, and medical notes accurately
  • Distribute emails, faxes, and lab work to team members efficiently
  • Work continuously around staff and clients
  • Follow oral and written directions
  • Delegate tasks and ensure completion
  • Maintain a clean and orderly facility
  • Perform upkeep and troubleshoot hospital equipment including computers
