Job Requirements

  • Degree from a four year college or university in a job-related field or equivalent experience
  • at least 2 years of stage management experience
  • demonstrated proficiency in stage management for the performing arts
  • availability to work evenings and weekends
  • basic understanding of video directing, lighting, sound, and ushering
  • excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • capability to perform in a fast-paced environment within strict deadlines
  • understanding of theatrical safety standards
  • computer literacy and familiarity with office software

Job Qualifications

  • Degree from a four year college or university in a job-related field or equivalent experience
  • at least 2 years of stage management experience with demonstrated competency
  • demonstrated proficiency in stage management for the performing arts
  • experience working in a university setting preferred
  • ability to work evenings and weekends
  • advanced knowledge of stage management and basic understanding of other aspects of technical theatre such as video directing, lighting, sound, and ushering
  • excellent interpersonal skills and ability to provide customer service to diverse constituencies
  • discipline to work independently and within a team
  • ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment within a strict schedule
  • strong understanding of safety issues associated with working in a theatrical setting
  • computer proficiency and knowledge of standard office software

Job Duties

  • Respond to work calls made by the Production Manager
  • provide general support for all stage and backstage needs of artists including set-up, operation, and strike for assigned events
  • act as primary Stage Manager by preparing venue areas for performers, scheduling Student PA crew shifts, leading check-in and load-in of artists, creating event Dailies, leading stage crew and delegating tasks during rehearsals and performances, interacting with artists, clients, and university staff in event execution, executing and calling show cues, maintaining professional rapport with all stakeholders, ensuring completion of stage, sound, and lighting preparations prior to handing over to the House Manager, ensuring safe and timely execution of production cues and stage entrances/exits, assisting performers in load-out and departure
  • complete Stage Manager reports after events when necessary
  • create and maintain a safe and pleasant working environment for staff and customers
  • occasionally fill other technical positions such as FOH ushering, video directing, lighting, and audio
  • assist in training and supervising Production Assistants
  • attend backstage staff orientations and meetings as needed
