Job Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age
ability to stand for extended periods
capability to use hands for handling and reaching
ability to speak, hear, and communicate in English
capability to perform basic math calculations
must be able to occasionally kneel or crouch
ability to lift and move items for scanning assistance if needed
willingness to comply with company appearance and grooming standards
ability to work in a sometimes wet, humid, or cold environment
must follow all safety and security procedures
completion of required training including new hire orientation and cashier technical skills
ability to follow oral and written instructions effectively

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
prior retail or cashier experience is an advantage but not required
excellent communication and interpersonal skills
ability to perform basic math operations
ability to read, write, and comprehend English
ability to follow detailed instructions
customer service skills with a genuine and enthusiastic approach
capacity to adapt to changing priorities and multitask effectively
basic knowledge of safety, sanitation, and legal compliance in retail settings
completion of company required training programs
ability to work as part of a team
punctual and reliable work ethic

Job Duties

Take excellent care of customers by satisfying their needs and exceeding expectations
accurately operate the self-checkout station and self-checkout robots
maintain security and control of funds in the cash register
greet customers warmly, make eye contact, and speak in a friendly manner
follow proper procedures for transactions including VIC card savings
cheerfully assist and invite customers to use self-checkout
ensure compliance with state and local laws on alcohol and tobacco sales
communicate effectively in English with customers and associates
carefully bag groceries according to customer preferences
maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area
perform self-checkout register maintenance and weight file integrity
provide assistance to fellow associates and support team activities
report any safety hazards, accidents, or store management issues promptly
comply with company policies, procedures, and standards
perform essential job functions reliably throughout scheduled hours
