Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- relevant experience in similar position preferred
- working knowledge of all building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
- ability to diagnose trouble issues and perform minor repairs
- knowledge of proper use and disposal of hazardous materials and safe handling techniques as outlined by OSHA
- repair skills for minor equipment
- self-motivated and prompt in performing tasks
- ability to pass Diocesan background screening and Safe Environment Training
- flexibility to work midshift hours including Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and to cover vacations or other absences
- physically able to perform heavy labor including climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, and lifting moderately heavy objects up to 30 pounds
- willingness to work under stressful conditions and function well under pressure
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- relevant experience in a similar maintenance or handyman position preferred
- working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
- ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair minor mechanical issues
- knowledge of hazardous material handling and OSHA safety requirements
- repair skills for minor equipment
- ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- strong interpersonal skills to interact respectfully with residents and staff
- must pass background screening and Safe Environment Training
- appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings
Job Duties
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on buildings, equipment, and grounds
- complete work orders including minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC-related tasks
- troubleshoot and report mechanical issues that require escalation or vendor support
- assist in developing and executing preventative maintenance schedules
- conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and safety systems
- identify and address potential maintenance issues before they become urgent
- support facility improvement projects such as painting, recarpeting, cabinetry, and general upgrades
- assist with furniture and equipment setup/breakdown for events or operational needs
- maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
- identify maintenance needs requiring external vendors
- support coordination, scheduling, and oversight of vendor work as needed
- ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, and applicable safety standards
- identify, report, and address safety hazards in a timely manner
- maintain proper use and storage of tools, equipment, and materials
- interact respectfully and professionally with residents, staff, and families
- support a safe and positive residential environment
- assist with basic maintenance guidance for staff when appropriate
- maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment
- respond to urgent maintenance needs during scheduled hours
- perform other duties as assigned
