Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in food preparation or culinary roles preferred
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to follow instructions and work well in a team
  • strong organizational skills

  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to handle physical demands of kitchen work

Job Duties

  • Plan and prepare food items for hotel restaurant and catering functions following food handling and safety guidelines
  • understand food cost and portion control without sacrificing quality
  • assist with quality and presentation issues, cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and restaurant
  • accommodate guests' special requests
  • maintain a clean work area practicing clean as you go policy
  • assist with inventory, ordering and receiving food and beverage items
  • assist with reports such as inventory, food costs, and beverage costs
  • maintain sanitation and safety standards for anyone entering the kitchen
  • coordinate catering reservations and food preparation with sales department to ensure guest satisfaction
  • follow up on menu items and cost special menu requests
  • assist with training and monitoring kitchen personnel
  • watch for safety hazards and report to department supervisor
  • perform other duties as assigned
