Job Description

Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises Employment Services is part of the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, Inc., which is the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. The Foundation provides valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year across a wide range of fields including technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality management, leadership, and research grants. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Nutrition, Food Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience as a program coordinator or relevant position
  • Knowledge of planning, development and execution of workshops, field trips and activities
  • Communications skills with ability to work as a liaison between leadership and participants
  • Must be able to communicate with guests to resolve issues
  • Proficient in Google applications and MS Office Suite
  • Comfortable with cloud-based collaboration programs
  • Background working at festivals, county fairs or community outreach programs
  • Experience in gardening techniques, floriculture, crafting, and food preservation
  • Experience developing lesson plans or other learning activities
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented

Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate with guests to resolve issues
  • Proficient in Google applications and MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Comfortable with cloud-based document sharing and collaboration programs
  • Background working at festivals, county fairs or community outreach programs
  • Experience in gardening techniques, floriculture, crafting, and food preservation
  • Experience developing lesson plans or other learning activities
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented
  • Preferred: 3+ years working in Education or Agriculture Advocacy

Job Duties

  • Plan, develop and execute enriching activities for field trip participants based on the season and/or theme
  • Ensure that budget is maintained, work with Director to ensure expenditures are tracked and within allocated amounts
  • Train and coach student employees to facilitate educational activities during community engagement events and field trips
  • Develop and facilitate community workshops, exhibitions, and demonstrations
  • Provide guidance to student employees and volunteers during the events
  • Manage inventory and supplies needed for visitor participation in demonstrations
  • Liaise with visitors to ensure guest experiences meet expectations
  • Resolve issues to the satisfaction of guests
  • Serve as primary point of contact for student staff, addressing issues promptly and escalating when needed
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulations
  • Adhere to a regular work schedule which will include evenings and weekends
  • Perform other duties as required
