Job Requirements
- At least a high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 3 years veterinary hospital experience or equivalent education
- proficiency in veterinary triage and nursing
- strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, disease processes, and pharmacology
- ability to handle fast-paced emergency environment
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- physical ability to lift and carry animals up to 150 pounds
- ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- fluency in English
Job Qualifications
- Have at least 3 years of veterinary hospital experience or a combination of experience and education
- highly skilled in veterinary triage, diagnostics, and nursing
- strong veterinary medical knowledge with detailed understanding of common diseases and pharmacology
- ability to perform efficient diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
- exemplary customer service and critical thinking skills
- team-oriented attitude
- fluent English speaking and reading skills
- multilingual abilities a plus
Job Duties
- Determine levels of triage for emergency patients
- obtain and document patient history in electronic care system
- assist veterinarians during examinations and treatments
- restrain animals for physical exams and procedures
- perform diagnostics including IV catheter placement, blood work, urinalysis, radiographs, CT scans, CPR, sedation, and anesthesia
- administer medications and calculate doses
- execute advanced procedures such as central line placement, abdominocentesis, thoracocentesis, feeding tube placement, and urinary catheter placement
- discharge patients including filling prescriptions and educating clients on at-home care
