Job Requirements

  • Works in a clean, well-lighted environment with exposure to noise, odors, dust, fumes, and cleaning chemicals
  • Physical exertion required at least 80 percent of the time including standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing 20-50 lbs and pushing up to 150 lbs
  • Moderate exposure to infectious diseases
  • Ability to interact in a tactful, diplomatic, and humanistic manner with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and communicate effectively
  • Must be able to safely use various housekeeping equipment including vacuum, mop, housekeeping cart, and steam tables
  • Physical job demands may be subject to modifications to accommodate individuals with disabilities

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to safely use housekeeping equipment such as vacuum, mop, housekeeping cart, and steam tables
  • Ability to interact tactfully and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers

Job Duties

  • Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning and replacement of equipment and furnishings
  • Vacuum and clean all corridor floors, lobby, emergency exits, and other areas daily
  • Check all vacant cottages and apartments frequently to keep them fresh
  • Follow daily cleaning schedule and complete proper paperwork
  • Clean all air vents
  • Wash interior windows as scheduled
  • Operate and maintain various mechanized cleaning equipment such as vacuums and carpet cleaners
  • Report any needed repairs immediately to supervisor or maintenance
  • Follow infection control procedures related to housekeeping
  • Manage cleaning solvents and chemicals following regulatory instructions
  • Periodically check entire area for spills and water, especially in residents' bathrooms
  • Follow procedures for handling and cleaning blood, infectious materials, or body fluids according to OSHA standards
  • Maintain resident confidentiality
  • Complete required in-services and attend training opportunities
  • Provide an elevated level of customer service
  • Perform specific duties assigned by the Executive Director
