Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Considerable knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, equipment, and chemicals
- Knowledge of sanitation standards for public facilities
- Ability to operate power cleaning equipment
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Good oral communication skills
Job Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of cleaning techniques, methods, materials, equipment, and chemicals for various surfaces and sanitation standards
- Knowledge of safety practices for using chemicals and cleaning equipment
- Skilled in operating power cleaning equipment such as buffers and vacuum cleaners
- Ability to perform physical cleaning tasks including lifting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, and reaching
- Good oral communication skills
- Prior housekeeping experience, preferably in a large multi-building environment
Job Duties
- Follow the Science Museum's cleaning protocols to maintain cleanliness across all museum areas
- Clean and maintain the four levels of the museum and dedicated event spaces
- Perform cleaning tasks before, during, and after special events
- Operate power cleaning equipment such as buffers and vacuum cleaners
- Safely handle cleaning chemicals and follow sanitation standards
- Lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds as required
- Maintain good oral communication with team members and supervisors
