Job Requirements
- Less than 1 year of experience using a computer including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information
- Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology such as smart phones and tablets
- 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier
- Must be able to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier
- Experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs
- Experience explaining credit cards, installations, add-on sales, protection plans, and warranties
- Experience as a head cashier
- Experience working in any department at a Lowe’s retail store
- Supervisory experience including directing, delegating, evaluating, training, and coaching employees
- Experience detecting common signs of shoplifting
- Ability to provide smart customer service
- Ability to operate cash registers and retail technology
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Demonstrates ability to monitor and identify customers who need assistance at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously
- Approaches and interacts with customers to proactively recommend products and services appropriately
- Proactively greets, assists, and engages with multiple customers on multiple registers at the same time
- Moves throughout the checkout area standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving product to ensure accurate completion of transactions
- Thanks the customer for their business and invites them back to shop at Lowe’s
- Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe’s customer service policies, procedures and programs
- Seeks out customers to understand needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise
- Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions by taking them to areas of the store and walking them through projects when necessary
- Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers
- Communicates information to customers regarding stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, applications, and warranty information related to Lowe’s programs
- Coaches, develops, provides feedback, and trains associates in various departmental duties or sales opportunities
- Uses the cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines
- Provides proper monetary change to CSA Front End associates for register activities
- Provides supervision, coaching, and support to CSA Front End Team (Front End/Loaders)
- Removes security tags, verifies product information, and bags merchandise for customers
- Answers incoming phone calls and directs calls or takes messages as needed
- Opens additional registers to ensure adequate coverage
- Assists in line vesting to help quicker turnaround time for checkout
- Prepares register area at the beginning and end of shifts, confirming functionality of registers, scanners, and stocking supplies
- Inspects returned merchandise for damages
- Enters and submits customer orders, prints order tickets, verifies receipts, and signs off on loading tickets
- Reviews and places online orders and returned merchandise in appropriate areas
- Looks up product information and competitor prices to verify price match
- Records all items used in the store on store use lists
- Obtains safety bags from the cash office and monitors cash amounts in drawers
- Monitors merchandise entering and leaving store, assisting customers or associates triggering alarms
- Detects signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks and reports to management or Asset Protection
- Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs to maintain cleanliness and organization
- Maintains a safe and secure work environment including conducting safety reviews, noting hazards, and securing doors and gates
- Adheres to all safety requirements relevant to job duties
- Operates store equipment needed for the role
- Performs other duties as assigned
