Job Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information
  • Less than 1 year of experience using retail technology such as smartphones and tablets
  • One to two years of retail experience as a cashier
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One to two years of retail cashier experience
  • Experience in identifying and selling products based on customer needs
  • Experience with credit card, installations, add-on sales, protection plans, and warranty explanations
  • One to two years of supervisory experience
  • Retail experience in any Lowe's department
  • Ability to listen and respond knowledgeably to customer inquiries
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to coach, develop, and train associates

Job Duties

  • Monitor and identify customers needing assistance at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously
  • Proactively greet, assist, and engage with customers on multiple registers
  • Recommend products and services appropriately
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register
  • Provide proper monetary change to front-end associates
  • Open additional registers to ensure adequate coverage
  • Remove security tags and bag merchandise for customers
  • Answer phone calls and direct or take messages
  • Prepare register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages
  • Enter and submit customer orders and print order tickets
  • Review and place online orders and returned merchandise correctly
  • Look up product information and competitor prices for price matching
  • Record store-used items
  • Monitor cash drawers to ensure cash limits
  • Assist customers or associates triggering security alarms
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and promptly communicate to management
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization following housekeeping standards
  • Conduct daily safety reviews and maintain a safe work environment
  • Operate store equipment as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
