Job Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer including data input and access
  • Less than 1 year experience with retail technology such as smartphones and tablets
  • 1 to 2 years of retail cashier experience
  • Ability to lift items up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Willingness to work flexible retail hours

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1 to 2 years retail experience as a cashier
  • Experience selling products based on customer needs including credit and add-on sales
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to operate retail technology and store equipment
  • Knowledge of customer service principles
  • Ability to detect signs of theft
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic math skills for transaction processing

Job Duties

  • Demonstrates ability to monitor and assist multiple self-checkout customers simultaneously
  • Proactively recommends products and services to customers
  • Greets, assists, and engages with customers in checkout areas
  • Moves throughout checkout area to ensure accurate transactions
  • Provides SMART customer service consistently
  • Assists customers in locating, selecting, and loading merchandise
  • Responds knowledgeably to customer and employee inquiries
  • Coaches and trains associates on departmental duties
  • Processes sales transactions, returns, and refunds
  • Supervises and supports front end associates
  • Removes security tags and bags merchandise
  • Answers and directs incoming phone calls
  • Opens additional registers to ensure coverage
  • Assists in line management for quicker checkout
  • Prepares register area and stocks supplies
  • Inspects returned merchandise for damages
  • Enters and processes customer orders
  • Reviews and places online orders
  • Verifies price matches
  • Records store use items
  • Obtains safety bags and monitors cash drawers
  • Monitors store entrances for security
  • Detects and reports theft or security risks
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization
  • Ensures a safe work environment
  • Operates store equipment as required
  • Performs other assigned duties
