Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of baking experience or culinary education
- ability to stand for long periods
- ability to lift 50 lbs regularly
- strong attention to detail

- ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures
- ability to work early morning shifts starting at 4 am
- familiarity with professional bakery equipment
- self-motivated attitude

Job Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in baking or equivalent combination of culinary education and experience
- well organized with strong attention to detail
- knowledge of basic baking techniques, safe use of knives, proper workstation sanitation and food temperature control
- familiarity with professional stoves, ovens and kitchen appliances
- demonstrated passion for baking and customer service
- ability to work safely and stay calm in a busy environment
- strong organizational and communication skills
- self-motivated
- ability to stand throughout work time and exposure to varying temperatures
- ability to lift and transport 50 lbs regularly
- ability to follow instructions in noisy environments
- familiarity with basic office software
- basic arithmetic skills

Job Duties
- Perform and maintain a daily inventory of bakery ingredients and complete order sheets
- monitor ingredient pricing and sales to ensure margin accuracy and minimize waste
- read and follow departmental production sheets, catering orders and other communications
- follow recipes meeting time and quality standards
- know and follow proper food rotation and storage procedures
- maintain a full and attractive bakery case and bread display
- prepare diverse bakery items including seasonal, local, organic ingredients and dietary-specific options
- meet production criteria for quality, quantity and timeliness
- prep recipes for the following day
- maintain systems to allow smooth substitution for shifts
- create accurate signage and labels for items
- communicate regularly with deli manager on equipment and supply needs
- introduce new recipes and review costs
- develop seasonal and holiday specialties
- track and fulfill bakery requests and special orders
- collaborate with deli manager to track costs, sales and losses
- track sales to plan appropriate bake quantities
