Job Requirements
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- high school graduate or equivalent preferred
- education or training in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets preferred
- able to work flexible hours
- able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, lift and carry 50 to 75 pounds
- able to work with cleaning chemicals and agents
- patient and tolerant toward staff and residents
- minimum of two years cooking experience
- minimum of one year experience in healthcare dietary service desired
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of two years cooking experience in batch cooking, family-style restaurants, or short-order
- at least one year food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting preferred
- general knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving
- ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, and work assignments
- patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members
- ability to work flexible hours including during emergencies
- basic food preparation knowledge
- sanitation and safety practices
- customer service oriented
- thoroughness
- time management skills
Job Duties
- Follow standardized recipes and portioning techniques
- prepare and present meals according to menu extensions and presentation standards
- complete and utilize daily production worksheets and waste logs
- taste completed meals to ensure quality
- monitor temperature of hot and cold foods through preparation and service
- inspect food products and supplies upon delivery in absence of the Director of Culinary
- supervise and assist in storing supplies and food products
- notify Director of Culinary of food, supply, or equipment needs
- report equipment breakdowns and unsafe conditions
- comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations
- perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Culinary
