Job Requirements

  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate Airplane Single-Engine Land, Instrument Airplane
  • Current Certified Flight Instructor - Airplane Single-Engine Land
  • Hold a current FAA First, Second, or Third class Medical
  • Must successfully pass MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance to use a company vehicle for business travel
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment post-offer urine analysis
  • Ability to work variable hours depending on schedule
  • Compliance with FAA regulations and maintenance of currency and proficiency
  • Submission of required documents including cover letter, resume, FAA certificates, and current medical
  • Effective communication and mentoring skills
  • Ability to attend department and FAA-related meetings

Job Qualifications

  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate Airplane Single-Engine Land, Instrument Airplane
  • Current Certified Flight Instructor - Airplane Single-Engine Land
  • Hold a current FAA First, Second, or Third class Medical
  • Demonstrated ability to provide one-on-one flight instruction per FAA standards
  • Strong knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations Parts 61 and 141
  • Experience in maintaining accurate student records and endorsements
  • Ability to conduct flight evaluations and assign grades according to department guidelines
  • Effective communication and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work variable hours according to school schedule
  • Valid driver's license with insurability to operate company vehicle
  • Clean background check and drug screening results

Job Duties

  • Audit student records to ensure minimum flight times have been met including total time, solo time, cross-country, and night flight time
  • Maintain currency and proficiency as required by the FAA
  • Ensure compliance and records in accordance with parts 61, 141, and applicable FAA Advisory Circulars including student records and student endorsements
  • Perform Certified Flight Instructor responsibilities and duties
  • Provide one-on-one flight instruction to students in aircraft and flight training devices per Federal Aviation Regulations Part 61 and 141 and FAA-approved syllabi
  • Provide preflight briefings and post-flight debriefings
  • Supervise student pre-flight aircraft inspections and make airworthiness decisions
  • Authorize and supervise student solo flights with written log-book endorsements
  • Evaluate and document students' flight skills, judgment, and knowledge for each lesson, assign grades, and calculate final course grades
  • Keep supervisors advised of students' progress
  • Ensure all training and flight activities are performed safely and securely per Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Serve as a mentor to students and new instructors
  • Assist with instructor interviews, training, quality, and oversight
  • Participate in special event days
  • Attend department meetings, FAA inspections, FSDO meetings, and FAA Safety Team meetings
  • Maintain proficiency and currency as required by the FAA
  • Other duties as assigned
