Job Requirements
- No prior experience or training necessary
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions

Job Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age
- Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
- Ability to read and interpret safety and procedural documents
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in standardized situations
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends
Job Duties
- Operate cash register by scanning merchandise and processing customer transactions
- Engage customers through suggestive selling and promoting Ace Rewards membership
- Process refunds and issue in-store merchandise credits for returns
- Use loss prevention techniques to minimize shortages and prevent shoplifting
- Assist customers on the sales floor by greeting them and answering merchandise questions
- Help customers locate products and process special orders
- Maintain merchandise displays, stock shelves, and build displays according to plan-o-grams
- Assist with color matching and paint mixing
- Collect shopping carts and carry merchandise to customer vehicles
- Provide additional services such as chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening
- Follow store maintenance and recovery checklists to ensure cleanliness and orderliness
- Refer customer complaints to proper personnel for resolution
- Answer telephones and direct calls appropriately
- Adhere to company policies and represent Great Lakes Ace Hardware’s mission and values
